How long can corals stay out of the water?

I was thinking about taking the vermetid snails off my three lps corals, I have a good idea for taking them off but how long can they last outside of the water since I saw other people take there coral out of water to do things like fragging.

They can be for awhile… just keep them wet if you can.. a dip here or there after a few minutes.. I’ve had Sps out for 7 hours and survived

The longest I've drained my entire nano reef zero water, = all corals rocks etc is 45 mins/ no harm. I always considered that a decent cycle test too

Not completely in topic but what do you do with corals that are about to grow out of the water? I need to move a pipe organ that’s triple in size in 2 years but have been lazy. It’s within a 1/4” of the surface if not beyond. Definitely not in the water when I stop the return pump.

In the wild in Australia they get exposed the sun and no water frequently

Tidal variations happen. For LPS, I would GENTLY disturb them to get them to retract prior to removal.

As with tides can be 1-3 hours. I have had coral and rock out of water more than once and ran water on them via a turkey baster to keep them wet

They do. Especially King Tides.

This is a good point to remember when handling LPS.

Snails might outlast the coral.
