Hey Everyone,

First I wanted to say how informative and helpful this community has been as I've taken my first steps into the saltwater side of the hobby!

Second, hoping to get some guidance on my set up. It's a 20g high and I modded an Aquaclear 70 HOB into my refugium.

Its been working okay but I've noticed that pieces of the cheato tend to get stuck in the outlet grill and as a result over time the water level in the fuge rises until it starts coming out of the inlet, making noise and making me worried about and overflow.

Just looking for ideas for how I can fix this?

Cheers!

Ok so you need to get that chaeto lowered by installing something above it. Light diffuser maybe? And if that blocks too much light you could always move your light to the side of the fuge instead of above it.

Its going to clog no matter what.

What i did in a fuge of the past to keep cheato fragments from clogging everything is put the cheato in a white filter bag.

The best material is that white, gauzy mesh you can find at fabric shops or Walmart. It's more porous than filter sock/bag material while being just fine enough to hold cheato chunks.

My cheato floats an inch above the waterline in my fuge and grows like a weed.
