Hi everyone my name is chayse I'm 18 and just bought my first reef tank it is a biocube 29, but i have been into fish keeping for 7 years with my 90 gallon freshwater tank that I've had for 7 years now. Ive always wanted a reef and saw a great deal for this established tank $300 I paid for it it included 20# of live rock, a santa monica .6 algae scrubber, a hydro galaxy 165w led light, a huge colony of gsp and a rock anenome. I bought a ecotech mp10 because i wanted the best for it, I also bought the stand and some kellion zuct power nano kit coral supplements and some other stuff I plan on doing a lps and easier spa tank I'm not really into soft coral at all. I go to wet pets Thats where i buy all my freshwater and I have been to the reef gallery I went a few weeks ago and it was nice. I plan on getting a few fish and frags this weekend and a clean up crew and wanted some recomdations I really like orange diamond gobys, blennys and flame hawkfish and snowflake clowns and coral i really like are favia and chalices and montipora.

Welcome! Great to have another Pittsburgh reefer. Our annual fragging workshop is this Saturday at Elmers if you want to come check it out and see if you'd like to join the club, and maybe win some frags;)

I just got an email saying new fish are in stock at the reef gallery, so they should have a decent selection if you go. I have yet to make it up to the coral cave, it's on my to do list lol.

Awesome! We’re glad to have you. Sounds like you have done some research and aren’t going in blind like a lot of people do much older than you lol. If there is anything that you need just reach out to us and someone will be glad to help!

3 Rivers Marine Aquarium society is having our annual coral frag workshop this coming Saturday at Elmer’s aquarium where we get a wide variety of the coral colonies and instruct people on the proper way to make coral fragments “frags”. Everyone who comes will leave with something! The more raffles you enter the more stuff you can win at a fraction of the price and we will have some sps and lps there.

Also, there are a ton of stores to visit in the area, Aqua World, The Reef Gallery, Coral Cave, and Elmer’s. I frequent all of them aside from Elmer’s and they’re for sure worth the trip to all of them. Aqua World is always packed to the gills... no pun intended lol, the reef Gallery just got a large shipment of fish in, and coral cave always has a crazy coral selection from high to low end.

As I said before, if there is anything that we can do to help, let us know.

@4FordFamily @The Camaro Show

Who makes the best sports cars and trucks?
:D
Well judging by the Ford GT and best selling trucks for like 30 years I think that’s an easy call!

But honestly Chevy doesn’t make bad trucks, I just think they’re goofy looking. The corvette is a nice piece of rolling stock!

I’ve been a Chevy guy forever and owned all kinds of classics. 1980 step side square body, 98 canary and a 78 vette... but somehow I ended up in a Ford a year ago lol. 69 continental coupe :D

Hey welcome. If you were at the reef gallery, I am sure that you talked to be since I am the guy working there any time it is open other than this Saturday evening when I will be cutting up coral for everyone. We did just get a shipment of fish and we got a shipment of coral this past week, another one today and another shipment coming Sunday/Monday. You really should come to the coral fragging workshop. There will be a couple grand worth of coral cut up and raffled off, you will leave happy, that is for sure. Also you do not need to be a member, but if you are a member ($30 for a 2018 membership) will get you at least 10% all your livestock purchases at all of the stores mentioned in this thread, not to mention we help each other out. Before buying fish/livestock I would suggest reading around in the fish disease forum and get an idea of what you are looking at prior to going fish shopping. Same advice goes for coral purchases with all of the pests, coral predators/nuisance algae/aptasia that I see locally.
