Hi everyone,

Introducting myself as I am a total seahorse and saltwater noob. Ive been into freshwater tanks for 20+ years and done everything possible there and am now about to dip my toes into some salt water by researching and preparing a seahorse setup.

So far I have the following
Aquaone Reefsys 180.
the sump has
- aquaone maxi 105 pump,
- 2L (0.5gal) of Seachem Pond Matrix,
- 200w heater,
- an Aquamedic evo 500 protein skimmer (DC runner 1.3 version)
- aquaone aquafill ATO system.

- Aquaone stripglo Marine LED Reflector 60CM 17.5W
- 18kg (40lbs) of Carib Sea fiji pink sand,
- Dr Tim's Aquatics One and Only
- DD brand refractometer
- Red Sea brand "Coral Pro" artifical seawater salt

Apart from artifical decor, and / or a chiller is there anything else i need ?

cheers

A feeder would be great. They learn fast where it is esp. if you feed at the same time…. Also keeps water quality in check

Added: be advised some misinformation floats around on seahorses. You can place corals in the tank, this nonsense about them getting stung is over played, they aren’t that stupid…
They also can take flow, even almost sps level flow.
Warm, funky water will kill them faster than anything else….keep temps under 77F IME

Is there any rock in the tank? Rock is the basis of the biofilter in a salt tank, its vital to have rock in a salt tank.

I don't see any powerheads in your set up, even seahorses need flow.

I don't see a rodi unit, you should get that, even for top offs I would not want to use tap water in my seahorse tank.
