Heteractis malu Yellow

hi reefers ,
since 5 days i put a yellow malu in the tank .
after putting it in it put himself under a rock with his foot , since then it dind do anything , i tried feeding also but doesnt seem to take any artemia or other frozen foods .
is this normal behavior , doest seem of or damaged .
should he come out or is this typical behavior ?
i do have a pair of clown but they did not yet show any interest in the malu .
just wondering .

H. malu generally attach to a firm surface under the sand or at the boundary of the rock/sand. It may take a little time for the anemone to settle in and accept food. H malu is not exactly a prime choice host for most species of clownfish. But, once the anemone gets settled and grows some, it might be more attractive to your clownfish.

I read about not being the 1st anemone for hosting clown's .
But since the clown's are cative bred i was hoping they would not be so picky about the nem , if they even will host any xd

From my experience, captive bred vs wild caught is of little to no significance in regard to being hosted. The research suggests that the attraction is hard-wired and the preference for certain species of clownfish for certain species of anemone has to do with the "smell" (chemical shed) of the anemone. Perhaps visual cues also play a secondary part in the attraction to anemones, who knows.

Your tank looks quite new. As the years in the hobby pass, you’ll quickly realize how an established eco system is a real thing. Anemones, Clams, Gonioporas etc. are so often times tricky to get to survie. But all of the sudden that changes. A year is a fair calendar milestone for many of us. Again your aquascape is very cool. As is your new anemone. To speed up the process you might want to add 5-10 pounds of quality live rock. A more complex variety of beneficial bacteria found on live rock is a good way to seed your tank. Starting the “established tank” journey. Good luck.

to give and update , i still have the anemone .
it doesnt seem to have growed , it doesnt look yellow and had no extended polyps for i dont know how long , it does not move .
i feed about once a week anemone pellet and or frozen foods but im thinking that it is not in the correct place , there is low light and very low flow at his location .

do you guys think i should replace him ?

I did replace him to a more flow part so no dirt could collect on it. Its a half shaded crevice where it sits now but with opertunities for itself to find a more lighted or less flow part of it .
