Hi guys. I’ve had my tank for over a year now and I’m having trouble with my torch. I have had him for about 6 or 7 months and noticed some white growth around him. Has this happened to anyones torch? Can someone tell me what it can be? I took photos to a local fish shop but they really couldn’t tell me anything. Help please and thank you!

Sponge! You can manually remove it if you want but it doesn’t cause any harm.. I have a hammer with the exact same one, that’s how I can tell from your blue pics lol.. I just pull mine off every once in awhile..

Oh okay. Great! I thought it had an infection or something. I’m going to work on removing that today. Thank you!

will it continue to come back even after taking it off?
If you get every little bit off of it then no… I had a couple small pieces left and it’s been like 3 months and it’s still tiny.. if you get it all off it’s gone and done for good.

yup sponge. peal it off. you can toss it or put it in a dark spot in your sump. I had a nice "cryptic" zone in my last setup all kinds of sponge, dusters, can help with water quality.
Agreed! Sponges are one of the many signs of a healthy tank.
