help with PH in water change water.

I"m having trouble with the PH in my make up water. It's about 7.8 how can I get this up to 8.3? or does it really matter? I have my water in barrels in the garage with lids on them. my PH in my tank is also in the 8.0 range so I assume this is cause my water change water ph is low. any help would be appreciated.

Make sure you have surface agitation so the water can have better gas/air exchange. Try opening a window, getting fresh air in the room will help it some. I have air from the outside being injected into my protein skinner. It really helps to keep my Ph around 8.3-8.4 in the day and 8.0-8.1 at night. Good Luck !!

Unless you are doing LARGE water changes I wouldn't worry about it. If it's the usual 10-15% it won't have a substantial effect.
