Help with nuisance algea

Hey everyone I just wanted to start and say in the last 7 months I have been lucky and not had a nuisance algea problem. But recently in the last month these two types of algea. A light brown brown almost cauliflower looking kind and a dark brown someimtes hairy sometimes flat looking algea has taken over my pretty reds purples and pinks. I have 0 phos and 0 nitrites so I cannot figure out wuat these are or why rhey are there. My lamp is 2 ecotech radion gen 2s that run 1115-1145 blues and ramp up to 12k at 1145-8pm they than ramp down to blues from 8-830. Most all nuisance algaes are caused by excess nutrients.That can be from overfeeding of coral foods are fish foods. Phosphates from source water can lead to this also. Hope you are using ro/di water. You must test it also. Since i started carbon dosing it has kept algae under control.

Hey mike I tested my phospates and nitrates and came up with nothing. As far as ro/di I only put that water in and I use a tds tester and than test my change out water before it goes in the tank. My tds meter reads 006. I'm just at a loss mike I wanna try carbon dosing but I run a refugium with chaeto in it to try to be a good hideout for some microfauna. Thats another question could cheato that isn't growing be raising my phos or nitrate?

Algae can only survive when there are nutrients for them to feed upon. Protein skimming,circulation,phos. and nitrate kept in check. Many people say i don't overfeed but they do. Fish are pigs and will try to consume every bite. Try reducing your feeding to where fish will eat for about 2-3 minutes each day and never let food hit the bottom. Try this first and see if you get results. It will take time.

Hey mike I just realized my di was depleted and I was hitting 7-8 on my tds. I have cut back feedings but do you thing my tds could be it

Swirched out my di and dumped water now making 000 water gonna do a 30% wc this weekend
