I have an 80 gallon, 3-4 months old now and been in an algae stage for a while; dinos, cyano and a lot of bryopsis over the rocks.
I currently have a pair of snowflake clowns that have been in from the start, 2 scarlet hermits and 2 trochus snails and i had a royal gramma for 2 weeks that didn’t make it.
I have some fish i plan as inhabitants for the tank including midas blenny, royal gramma, tomini tang, pijama cardinals.
But right now i want to add a tuxedo urchin, a conch, few more trochus, a blue leg hermit and a cleaner shrimp.
Am i in the position? and what questions do i need to be asking myself?

Also, do a manual hair algae removal to give them a jump start. Get some more cleanup crew (snails). You can get a bunch of urchins, then trade them back to LFS when you don't need them anymore. Put another fish or two in there to get some nutrients going.

Anything except Turbo's. Seems like they just fall over and die after a few days. I got some Trochus that bred and I went from 10 of them to over 100. I really like Tuxedo Urchins or similar size Urchins (Pink/Purple). They do an incredible job eating up algae. 1 Urchin does the job of 25 snails (in my opinion...)

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels like turbos just fall to the bottom & croak

Lucky if I get a week out of them! When they die they then rot and pollute the tank if you don't get them out. Then it feeds algae blooms. Exactly the opposite of why we buy them! I don't like them very much.

Any update on this thread?
