Check water parameters first. Second do not leave your light on for more than 8 hrs. Fighter conch after you do the two parts.

Will this make the brown algae go away

I also have to cut away some of the top to fit my protein skimmer in there because it is made to sit on the side of the aquarium instead of the back where I had my Fluval skimmer that I had to return other than that the back of the aquarium lid is very flimsy I don’t like that about this fluval Evo tank

O ok so far I’ve added dr Tim’s fishless cycle, and I’ve bought the pink and purple algea to spread into my Marco money saver live rock, once I’m finished with dr Tim’s fishless cycle I’ll update!

Remember adding chemical change different things in your fish tank so always keep checking and testing your water!

That looks like Dino's to me. What is your phosphate level? Id bet its zero.

A fighter conch or nassarius snails will help stir the sanded.

Do you have any nutrient export methods? Water changes, refugium?
If not then nitrates will not just go away on their own.

FWIW this is a newer tank and things like this will happen. Definitely add some rock.

hey guys!

My nitrates are high, been trying to get them down, please look at these pics and tell me some suggestions please! I bought a siphon tube for sand and a scraper to get it off walls etc

How do I get my nitrates in check and how do I get all the brown algae out?

Can I put some CUC members in there now or should I wait?

sorry nobody got to you sooner. Best way to get nitrates down is water changes until they're in a good range. If they keep rising, you need to look at your nutrient export methods. Skimmer/refugium/algae reactor? If you cant add or make any of your nutrient export methods more powerful, you need to reduce your nutrient import (less feeding).

Water changes will get your nitrates down right now. I would scape the brown algae off the glass and then manually remove. Doesn't look like there would be much for a clean up crew to eat. I'd wait to add CUC until your tank has fish, and algae growing. Or something for them to eat.

Here’s an update on my tank!!

the white rock is more growing brown algae thank God and I see some spots of pink/purple algae starting to pop up everywhere :) I’m going to add a CUC within the next couple of days so I hope y’all can give me some good advice or criticism!

Here’s another update on my tank!

Still haven’t added any CUC or livestock... trying to get my water perfect.

I’m starting to notice the “pink and purple algae” from algae barn are starting to sprout and show! This rock is starting to look beautiful!
What do y’all think?
