Help with CarbonDoser

I have a crusty CarbonDoser bubble counter that could use some TLC. Up until now, I've been running my CaRx off of a 5# canister with an 'F-Zone' regulator, but it just isn't reliable when coming back online after using the solenoid to stop bubble flow. I'm hoping if I restore the CarbonDoser, it will be more reliable.

Do you think I can take the gagues off the Fzone regulator and install them onto the CarbonDoser? If so, are there any precautions or best practices I should observe?

I would suggest replacing the gauges and leaving the FZ regular alone, just incase you have issues with the new one.

I was going to suggest Granger, but you might be better off buying a new unit. Granger has the parts, but Granger is always high on the cost side.

Based on the condition of the present unit, I think buying a new regulator and adding the electronics seems the safer way to go. Thanks!

TOTALLY!!! Just to make the point, the F-zone regulator was so finicky to get dialed in that just last night, it dumped a boatload of CO2 into the tank and my pH dropped to 6.9 for about 5 hours until I noticed it and forutnately had some Kalkwasser on hand. So yeah... new regulator: check. ;-)

Cheaper than $130 for a new Tunze really isn't that big a deal, not to mention the couple week wait that might be involved. Not worth it, but it's a good suggestion if I hold onto the old one as a backup.

Understood.......The wait may not be as long as you think. May have rebuilt units ready to ship out as exchange units, not to mention the rebuild may or may not contain updated gauges and parts. May be worth a check.
