Hey all, I'm new with reefing and this is my first algae bloom that wasn't diatoms. At first I thought it was just a heavy case of them but they seam more maroon than rusty color like I've been use to seeing and they have these little strings forming and trapping little o2 bubbles up in the slab work. I did some time back put in the coralline algae bottle from BRS but this can't be right. Im hoping that the green is the start of that because I can't get it off the rock even with a toothbrush. But I am really more worried about this gunk forming here and I don't know why my snails aren't mowing it down...

Whats the best way to go about this?Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Prepare by starting with a water change and blow this stuff loose with a turkey baster and siphon up loose particles.
Turn lights off (at least white and run blue at 10-15% IF you have light dependant corals) for 5 days and at night dose 1ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide per 10 gallons for all 5 nights. If you dont have light dependent coral- turn all lights off.
During the day dose 1ml of liquid bacteria (such as bacter 7 or XLM) per 10 gallons.
Clean filters daily and DO NOT FEED CORAL FOODS OR ADD NOPOX as it is food for dinos.
Day 5,, you can start with blue lights - ramping up and work your white lights up slowly

How old is this tank?
Ammonia, Nitrite are high. You shouldn't have any.
Calcium is low.
Is your ph chronically low?
Air from outside to skimmer can help as well as more surface agitation.
You may need to identify which strain you have before moving forward to treat the tank.
