Hi,
I’m sorry if I’m crashing a thread but I’m new to saltwater aquariums.

I started my first tank 2 months ago and last Friday I added 3 Zoas, now they look pail and look like they have clear tentacles coming off of them. With in the last 30 they seems to have come off but here are some pics.

Hey, welcome to Reef2Reef. No, you aren't crashing a thread, this is generally where people will talk about Zoas, so you are in the right spot haha. Have you made any recent changes to your tank that could be causing this? What are your parameters for your tank?

Zoas like higher nutrients. Your nitrates are 0 and you didn’t list your phosphates, I’ll assume zero as well. You need to get both of those up for zoas to be happy. Feed more or dose and shut off your skimmer if you have one. Your salinity is low, slowly get it up to 1.026. Also you are hanging a welcome sign and inviting dinos with zero nitrate and phosphate. Good luck, I love my zoa garden.

Thanks for the info, I don’t have a phosphate checker, that it what I will get this week. No skimmer I have a bio cube 32.
I’m going to start mixing my own salt as I bough this from a LFS the jugs said between 1.023-1.026 but I tested them all and they are all 1.022 so I will not be using that going forward.

I have a Biocube 32 and Coralife makes a skimmer. I have one in my first chamber. I also have a coralife uv in the third chamber. Click on my build thread if you want to take a look. Best of luck.

Do you have a link for it, I only found your posts on the corals and fish in the bio cube but I would love to see the set up. Your tank looks amazing and that’s what I would like my end goal to look like. This is my first attempt at a salt water tank.
Thank you,

Thank you,
In my post look at the different color badges. Under the yellow hospitalty award is a blue build thread contributor, click on that and it opens my build thread. Always here to help, feel free to hit me up with questions anytime. Let me know if you were able to open the build thread.
