My red fromia starfish looks healthy and is moving around just fine but there is something sticking out of his back, it looks like whitish clear and moves with the current. I can post a video please tell me if this is normal or something bad, thanks in advance!

I was reading about starfish and I realized that my starfish was eating detritus out of a plastic container all day that has a frag in it. I wonder if he got kind of stuck in there trying to stick to the plastic to get out and maybe strained himself trying to climb up the container? There is a spot on starfish called a madreporite that moves seawater into the tube feet to make them longer, if he tried too hard maybe that white stuff is from a strain? Is this possible?

I tried to grab it off of him with the tongs and half of it came off into tiny strings. The other half looks like it’s inside of him perturbing out. I hope it’s not the starfish wasting syndrome starting

Thanks for the advice, the next day all the stuff hanging out of him was gone and he’s fine now, back to normal! Not sure what that was!
