hi all! Looking for your thoughts/experience in selecting components for a 93 gallon cube. Marine land, 30x30x24. Thoughts on lights, filtration, skimmer, pump(s), power heads, etc.. Will not be doing corals at this time, but won't rule out the possibility in 2-3 years' time. So fish with some inverts (anemones, clams, shrimp, crab, etc.). Thank you for your help!

I'm actually building out a Marineland 60g cube at the moment with a custom stand. What inspired me to go with a cube was this forum I stumbled across which highlights a 96g cube that you might want to check out. Only issue is the equipment specs are from 2013.

The one issue I ran into when dealing with equipment on a cube is space limitations. You probably wont have this issue with the 96g but it's something to consider. Sumps are generally designed for normal rectangle tanks, so finding a cube sump was a must for my 60g. I ended up choosing Eshopps medium refugium sump which fits perfectly with my stand (because I designed it :p) If you decide to get the marineland I'd recommend finding sump that's easy to work on. I've seen complaints that the stand is very short and only has a door in the front.

Equipment wise I'd try and aim high, but get what you can reasonably afford.
  • VorTech MP40 (maybe x2?)
  • Vectra M1
  • Radion XR30w Pro
What I like about the EchoTech brand is the wireless controls and capabilities to set custom flows patterns / Lighting parameters. Plus pressing a button on the light to enable feed mode on the pumps is pretty awesome. I don't have it in my budget to get a neptune controller at the moment so this was a nice compromise for my build. Even though EchoTech prices are on the high side for all equipment, but you get what you pay for.

I have no advice on skimmers, sry... I bought a Eshopps S-120 for my build, but its the first new skimmer I've had in 5-6 years.

Work in progress of my 60g stand. I just wanted to show the space limitations. The Sump is 18x18x16, tank stand is 24.5 x 24.6 x 32.5.

Whoa sry... First time posting a pic on this forum, didn't realize it would display at 100% scale.
