Help. I have a 20 gal tank with two canister filters one clown one exquisite fire fish and one pj Cardinal as well as one zoah frag and a toadstool frag. My tank now has (I think) Lyngbya, diatoms, dinoflagellates and a little bit of green hair algae. I tried many different ”cures“ and none work. My phosphate levels are good so are nitrates, nitrates, pH, alkalinity, magnesium, calcium. Help please.

Let start with a little more information. Post some pics in white light.

What are you parameter and test kits you are using? How old is the tank? And what cures did you do?

If you say you have normal nitrate and phosphate levels this is probably because all this algae is taking in the nitrate and phosphate and you are left with none.

I have tried chemiclean ultra life vibrant and now just started with dr Tim’s re-fresh. I’m using api test kits and for alkaline and Calcium I’m using a henna checker. phosphates and nitrates are about zero nitrates are also at zero ammonia’s at zero pH is about 8.3- 8.0. Tanks about a year old.
