It won't hurt anything to dose heavy. I double dosed mine daily for several weeks before I got measurable numbers. Try feeding more also to make nitrates increase.

That should be fine. I dose sodium nitrate and sometimes raise it 3-4 ppm at once. May tanks run low and if I dose too slowly I cant raise it. I like to quickly raise it to where I want it then maintain it after that.

I’d add 2 ppm per day to start. Brightwell is extraordinarily vague on its potency, probably because it is reported to be quite weak.

Does the bottle itself say anything on dose?

I recommend using food grade sodium or calcium nitrate from Amazon.

i was wondering you have experience using it, and if you did, how many ml did you use to raise it 2ppm

Who are you asking?

For the materials I recommend there’s a calculator.

What exactly does the bottle say about amount to dose? The web directions are useless.

From my experience this stuff is week I was dosing 10ml a day on 200g to bring up. If you have undetected might take a while but since you are showing some value might be quicker, I don't know the if I am correct. Randy can correct me. Might take a week or 2 to gwt up to the value you want.

It depends on how many gallons in your tank. For my 75 gallons, I usually add 3 caps (5 ml each) that will being my nitrates up 1,5 ppm total.

I like to add phosphates (Neophos) as well in a ratio of 1/100. I don’t really calculate for phosphates, I just add a little bit, like the bottom of the cap. It’s more than 1/100 but it will do.

If you want to be sure, just start with one cap, wait until the next day and test your nitrates. You’ll see exactly how much it was raised.

If you have a 75 gallons tank, there is no need to search everywhere : you have an example for that size on the bottle that tells you exactly what to do.

I'd dose 2 ppm nitrate per day for a few days to see what happens.

I'm not a fan of using products of unknown purity such as Neonitro, but one can calculate the dose from Brightwell's literature (with the assumption that they are correct, which might not be true lol).

"1 ml NEONITRO will increase the nitrate concentration in 1 US-gallon (~3.8 L) by ~5 ppm; "

So to dose 2 ppm in 270 gallons will require:

1 mL/gallon x 270 gallons x 2 ppm/5 ppm = 108 mL per day
Randy wrote this some two years ago. It looks they removed this sentence since, but probably the concentration is the same.

There's no calculator for neonitro that I know if. It is for DIY products.

Thanks. :)

Assuming that statement from Brightwell is the same as the bottle says:

"1 ml NEONITRO will increase the nitrate concentration in 1 US-gallon (~3.8 L) by ~5 ppm;"

then I'd dose about 30 mL per day to 75 gallons of water to be adding 2 ppm per day.

Just to note that probably in NeoNitro there are other nitrogen sources besides nitrates such as amino acids ammonia salts etc. and measuring nitrates soon after dosing may give false low readings.
