I got too excited and neglected to notice this at my LFS. I just added him to the tank and he has a spot near his tail that looks raised and fuzzy. His tail is also injured so I’m hoping it’s just an injury.

Is it a parasite? Anything would help.

I don't think it's a fluke, and I've seen similar fuzzy things like this on the odd fish at my LFS (the emperor angel with it had it on one side of his gills and one fin). I forget what it was or the treatment (I think for the most part it went away on its own - but one of the resident experts can weigh-in).

The tail injury can regenerate as long as it's not too deep, and relatively quickly.

The spot is fuzzy on a small fish and hard to see clearly. If you just taking possession of it in the last day, This could be mechanical damage doesn't look like a parasite that I am familiar with. Keep in mind that the supply lines are pretty nasty right now. Fish are waiting for transport a lot longer in holding facilities. If you just brought it home from your LFS, it's had a trip for the last 6 weeks or so. Good water quality and nutrition should be top priority.
