Hello everyone. Fellow reef nerds.

I have a rock with, well please have a look at the photos. Does anyone know what I am dealing with and how to eradicate it? Whatever it is, it is ticking off some of my Zoa's. The brown algae looking stuff, the white wormy guys, and anything else you see in the mix.

I am pretty sure I have hydroids mixed in, I have peppermint shrimp on order.

Thanks in advance.

The worms are probably harmless spaghetti worms. Hard to tell what the slimy algae is but could be dinos. What are your current complete parameters and age of the tank?

I recently picked up a Lawnmower Blenny. Hopefully he will take care of them if they are Dino's.

The worms have a pure white calcified body and look similar to feather dusters but small and white.

All params are normal except Nitrates - 40.

I added Purigen to the sump a few days ago, hopefully it will lower my Nitrate level.

Blenny does nothing for dinos. What is your phosphate? Purigen will do nothing for nitrates. Water changes do and siphon that rock clean.

Phosphates = 0, tested yesterday.

I added cheato to my sump a few days ago as well.

Lawnmower Blenny does not eat dino's? So everyone has lied to me about the LB.

The white worms are some species feather duster worms; I can’t see anything else clearly enough to offer a solid ID, but the yellow/brown stuff may potentially be an invasive sponge - if not, it’s probably some kind of algae (like cyano).

0 phosphate will cause algae problems such as dinos. The blenny will eat some algae like short GHA and green slime algae on rocks. They graze and can be part of a diverse cleaner crew for you.
