they look like spiroid worms, harmlessOne of my hammer has retracted it's polyps. There are some white spots on its base. Is it possible these things are eating it?

Definitely copepods! They look really good. Those white opaque globs on the tails of some of them are eggs! They are breeding and happy in your system.

Their population will basically follow the availability of food in the tank. You could provide them places to hide to safely reproduce but if there are no predators (certain fish etc..) in the tank then they should do fine either way. Some people breed them for specific fish which is pretty easy.. but if you don’t have a mouth to put them in specifically then I would let them just do their thingThanks for your reply.
Is there anyway I can boost their population? I have a bag of carbon in the tank which they have started inhibiting. I have also put a small piece of foam(large pores) for them to house in. It's a coral quarantine so can't put something that will be difficult to clean/remove.
