Is the shell covered with algae or something. My money cowrie has a black and white spotted mantle not red/ orange looking.

nope. shell is clean and smooth. don’t think it’s a money.

Looking at images of tiger cowries, they have the same look as yours, so it's probably a tiger cowrie

it’s definitely not a tiger. this is from a different range; atlantic, caribbean area. tigers are from indo pacific and the shell is totally different.

Hmm, what about a Atlantic deer cowrie?

Not the deer cowrie, that one gets huge and has different coloration and pattern, I'm guessing a Cypraea cinerea, if it's from the carribbean.
