So...My tank has been running for a little over a month now. And I'm starting to have problems with cyano bacteria. It all the sudden started popping up about 3 weeks in so I quickly identified it as cyano. I read up and it said you can suck it out with a syphon pump. So that's what I did. And it came back the next day, so i read more and it said you could get cerith snails and you could add more bacteria. SO, thats what I did, sucked it out, and can you guess? 3 days later it is still there and getting worse. Please help.

Any reply appreciated!!!

Tank specs, pump specs, wavemaker type and settings. Parameters if you have them, any inhabitants?

There are 4 Nassarius snails, 3 blue legged hermits, 2 cerith snails, 1 Mexican turbo snail, a cleaner shrimp, a clown fish, and a fire fish along with one small starfish, I don't have a wave maker but my pump runs at 123 gph, its a fluval evo 13.5 tank.

That is just the minimum amount of flow, probably lots of dead spaces in the tank. Try adding another powerhead in there. Cyano has a harder time blanketing stuff when the flow is higher.

Its also related to nutrients in your tank, need to control the nitrate and phosphate.

remember that 123 gph is never 123 gph, the pumps get dirty and clog up and run less efficiently every day until you clean it again.

You need more flow than just that pump
