I have a finex heater with a aqua logic controller I understand the need to replace heaters with internal thermostats but with external thermostats do these heaters last much longer how is the reliability of controllers?

If the thermostat is attached to the heater top like an eheim jager, its best to keep them unsubmerged to prolong the life.

If its a titanium rod thats plugged into an external thermostat, the longevity of the device remains at the discretion of the controller internal parts and how salt water proof the thermal probe is.
