Hawaiian YT or bioata YT?

Biota has a Black Friday sale and they have a yellow tang shipped for $189.

Since Hawaii has lifted the ban on yellow tangs should I wait until a Hawaiian yellow tang juvenile is available?

I only want a juvenile yellow tang because I like to see it grow

I'm not so sure the ban has actually been lifted yet. I've read some rulings have been passed but the ban has not actually been lifted but I may be wrong. This is just stuff I have read. I've seen the biota ones in stores. The ones I have seen were very tiny and pale in color. I got lucky about 6 weeks ago 2 Hawaiians came into my lfs 2 days apart from tank tear downs so I grabbed them both.
If you really want a small one I would get a biota. I have never seen a wild caught one in the stores as small as the biota ones. They are cute little buggers

I would go biota. The hawaiian ban may take a while. It's my understanding that it was "lifted" due to inaction rather than proactively removing it. Meaning a decision was supposed to be made by X date for yes or no, but there was no decision so the default was to lift it.

Plus from what I have seen, biota tangs seem to come in pretty healthy and really small.

Unless you want to be waiting for a long time. Get the biota. People jumped the gun as far as them lifting the ban. Still has some hurdles ahead from what I’ve read.

Interested in if the price of Yellow tangs will go back down if or when the ban does lift, or will shops chase the higher margins. Would love to see them be more affordable once supply increases!

I would advise wait and get a healthy specimen from the wild. The reason captive prices are dropping is because of the obvious. I posted on a thread 6 months ago that sanctions would be eased if not dropped by Christmas. Not trying to pat myself on the back but we do own a house there. Im kinda wondering where all those grasshoppers are now that said I didnt know what I was talking about? Wait I know where they are. If you want to save a hundred bucks and not have a na na na swimming upside down "like videos I've seen played here" be patient. They're on the way.

I would say get a biota because there is less of a chance of ich or any disease

Go captive bred... Buy straight from biota... For the best price and specimen

Parasite and inch free, and you don't mess with the ecosystem... To me it's a no brainer

I have 3... They went from translucent to bright yellow in about 3 months
