Hard shelled slug???

Just saw this thing. Looks like it has a hard top

Was spewing out something into the water column

I'm hoping stomatella based on other threads

Yeah reading around definitely matches.

It climbed up there, stretched out and released stuff into the water 3-4 times.

First time I saw one I was concerned until I ID it but have come to love them as far as CUC goes for me.
