Good timing… I have almost this exact scenario. Noticed mine was expired so bought a new bottle.

Almost ocd-level testing to make sure repeated tests are as similar as possible.

Hanna Reagent A
Stored unopened at around 73 degrees.
Expired 04/2022.
Opened and tested just now at 7.6 dKH.

Reagent B
Ordered new last Friday. Arrived today.
Expires 10/2023.
Opened and tested just now at 8.1 dKH.

API test kit
Opened years ago, been sitting in shelf.
Expired 06/2019.
Tested just now at 7.5 dKH because…why not…

Tank is brand new, no corals just some liverock and snails. Mixed using Tropic Marin Pro Reef, which is supposed to mix at 7 dKH. Been dosing 1-2ml/25gal two part a day, so all values are just about where I’d expect them.

Reagents seem to vary lot by lot so take this information with that in mind.

I actually just finished up a bottle of reagent this week that expired 6-8 months ago. It was about .2-.3 dKH different than a fresh bottle, but that may have just been testing error.
