Hey All!
Looking for remedy for hair algae in my 2 yr old reef 165g Usually dose MB7 with coral snow once a week Just out of control and can’t figure it out. Two MP40’s one Nero 5 two Radion XR30 Pro’s with a light schedule from 07:45 to 17:00. Protein Skimmer and just recently added today LifeGuard reactor with Rowaphos about 15 tablespoons set to high flow. Also have a bag of chemo pure and chaeto.

Attached is a video and lighting setting. Any advice to remediate would be appreciated!! Thanks all!!

Manual removal, with toothbrush, and adding to clean up crew.
Mexican turbos and tux urchins.

you ever blow your rocks off with a turkey baster/pipette or something similar? a lot of food and detritus get in the crevices of rocks and if you don’t have enough copepods and little cleaners like micro brittle starfish, it’s easy to get a build up that eventually leaches nitrates out, promoting hair algae. this happened in my first reef tank and after a few rock cleaning sessions, followed by water changes to help remove everything, the hair algae died down a ton. manual removal at the same time should keep it from becoming more of an issue

Thank you. I’ve been blowing the rocks off with a turkey baster constantly as a matter fact, nonstop.

I have been trying to scrape it off with a toothbrush as best as I can, but it’s growing back pretty quick
