So for some reason one of my GSP frag closed up. It was open last week and now it closed up and looks like it is disintegrating (seeing the green polyp)

The other frag is doing well though and it was part of that frag I cut off. That part of the frag was already closing off when I cut that piece off. If it was my water params wouldn’t the other frag have the same behavior?

Not all the time, sometimes one frag is more sensitive than another because of previous damage or tank placement (flow, light), so you might see one start to have problems first during a big parameter swing or tank change.
