My Green BTA was doing alright yesterday, but today he’s completely hiding from the light, and his center is looking really messed up. The tanks a biocube, so it’s not like the lights are that strong. He’s been slightly bleached since I got him (2 weeks ago) but he’s never really been like this. I’ve seen him deflate and poop before, but he hasn’t looked like this.
params: ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 0, phosphate around .25. The tanks 2 years old, filtration is the intank media rack with filter floss, carbon, and phosguard. I also have a refugium with chaeto. If anyone knows what I should do about the nem please let me know. I don’t want it to crash my tank. (The pic in the blues is from a few days ago, the other 2 are it today)

i had trouble w my gbta also. my lighting was too high and i needed to spot feed it more regularly. when their tentacles “bubble” up it means they are more inclined to reach for the light. usually, when they shrink it’s from too much light. they are fickle tho good luck ://

The lighting is the stock biocube 32 leds so they shouldn’t be too strong

Don't over feed BTA, this will annoy it more, just let it settle in new aquarium (you said 2 weeks ago you introduced)
Let it roam around and find the best place for it, obviously move it it gets near your wavemakers but besides this, let it roam

It haven’t moved from the spot it’s been in in like a week, it sometimes goes under the rock fully and sometimes on the side of it. But it hasn’t made any major moves since it’s found this spot.

Mine did this for along time, it would reach out for abit of light but was happy in its cave, I thought light was too much but apparently (reef2reef) they love light.
I did not adjust anything and still watching it, I had to move it yesterday as it was close to wavemaker but besides that, it's free to choose its destination

How should I go about increasing nitrates? Just feed a bit more?
Nems don't need to be directly fed, and with being new they do tend to roam. Increasing nitrate can be dealt with in a few ways. Whether it's managing a current algae outbreak, increasing feeding, reducing export all can play a role. Judging by your test results I would assume API masterkit? Step one would be ordering some salifert, red sea or Hanna nitrate, phosphate and alkalinity tests. API just aren't reliable. Lack of an alkalinity test leads me to believe there's probably an issue there also.
