How do you find the Anemones Freddie?

I fancy getting one but my LFS says they can crawl all over corals and sting/kill them. As you know I have quiet a few corals which is why I been staying away from them for the moment and may just have to restrain myself with this one and keep away.

But I JUST NEED TO GET ONE!!!!!

... :D

Shaun,

I've kept BTA'a for a long time.
The one up front is a Rainbow and the one in the back is a Sherman. (Need to google Sherman bubble tip anemone to read the history)
If I cut back the lighting par and move the corals out of the way. The rainbow can blowup to about 8" wide. It changes it's shape as to not sting the surrounding corals.
I bought both of them about two years ago from Matt at Coral Collection. If you like, then buy the "Super Nova" and (lol) sending it to me. :D
http://coralcollection.bigcartel.com/category/anemones

The rainbow has never moved since day one. I had to pull out the rock work to catch that 4 stripe damsel  but (lol) when I put the scape back together it just opened back up like nothing happened.

The Sherman did move when I modded in the first led's (spring of 2016) and it hates led's.

I used to spot feed bta's way back but they would grow super fast and split all the time. Got tired of fishing out all the split off's.
The two that I have now have not been spot fed.

From what I've seen over many years. Once a bta finds it's happy spot and beds in it's foot, it will pretty much stay in that spot.

If you change: flow / lighting / water parameters etc... Then they "may" try to find a new happy spot.

Shaun,
If you try one. Just put it close to where you'd like it and real close to cave or tunnel. Gently keep it held down until you know the foot has attached (With all pumps off). Then just let it be. If it hides do not move it. You will stress it out and it will die. When it gets adjusted and acclimated then it will plant it's foot to the spot on your reef that it likes and leave it alone. It may plant in the back at first and be upfront after a few days and that is it's happy spot.

Mine are not roamers. If they started to roam them I'd test the water parameters asap.
If you keep bad water parameters (Which you don't) they will just keep roaming and never find a happy spot, because it's a water chemistry issue.

Freddie

Having never done this, is this like a 20 second thing or a five minute hold?
Their all different. Maybe 2 min. at the most with all pumps off.
If I held one for five mins. and it still floated, it's probably sick or was not acclimated properly. :(

I find the best thing to do is put it into another persons tank it's way easier and none of ur expensive corals or fish will die because of a 20 dollar anemone

Thanks Freddie, I'll have a bit more of a read up on them.

Man that one is in a touch space. [emoji3]
To get to to work would require the berg's in a qt with the coral alone.
Another way I have gotten rid ones like this is use super glue to seal it completely. [emoji3][emoji106]
