The UPS dude , dropped of my new skimmer package off to me yesterday:bigsmile:. Man this skimmer is so sexy, the thing I love the most about it, is it breaks down all the way for ease of cleaning.... So I am going from a Eshopps psk75 to this Seaside Aquatics CS1 . MoJo here on the forums suggested it, and I am glad I listened. I got this for a stellar deal @ saltysupply.....Packing was unbelievable , props to them, and I will deff do business with them again...

Specs:
Model: CS1
Needle wheel protein skimmer
Reactor room: Cone
Pump: Sicce Syncra PSK-600
Pump power: 110V, 60Hz
Capability: 150G Water
Air intake: 420L/H
Product size: 9.5” * 8” * 20”

And last but not least the pic of the skimmer.......

Pumping head: 3 m (118 in.)., ¾" GAS hose supports
Voltage / frequency: 230 V / 50 Hz (115 V / 60 Hz).

thanks LawmanRob,
this list for 399.00, and petmountain had them on sale over last weekend for 236.00 shipped free... I got it priced matched, cause I never have done business with them, and rather gone with someone else..lol more less, I was going to go with the eshopps s-120. But I got the size of a 150, for less than the price of a s-120... I had vertex in-100 in mind, but the footprint size , wouldn't allow me to fit it in my sump...lol

There's a wheel or turn knob on the exhaust pvc pipe that controls how much water exits the skimmer. If you slow down the water exiting the skimmer, it raises the bubble breaking level inside the chamber, the opposite happens when you open up and let water out faster, it lowers the bubble breaking level within the skimmer.

Well I got it all in there, after using all my spare 10 gallons of premixed salt water and RO 3 gallons. Ran out of money:( got to exchange my hang on sock filter, and pick up a 90 elbow for the pond hose. For the intake of the sol filter once I change that out. Got to cut my egg crate for my light for the fuge. And got my gurgle buster dialed in on my lifereef over flow box . Man what a diff , from the canister filter and hob skimmer running . I just here a little trickle of water to the overflow but No toilet. Lol , I am happy with how quiet the skimmer, and tunze pump is. Wife is too, she doesn't have to blast the tv now. Of corse my overflow is kinda stuck out off the tank, but I will fix that another month or so from now. I can't tell unless I am sitting at my desk anyhow.

Thinking of using the old fluval canister for running my chem pure, and purigen, and phosgard . But not sure , cause I would have to have it sit out side of the tank. No room what so ever left in the sump area. Hell I had to cut some of my stand just to get the dang sump in there. Also had to push back the tank back as far as it would go just to get that big ole skimmer in there lol. Then the collection cup was a bit of a hassle. Between the tank and the front lip of the stand. Omg, talking about enjoying my cold bid light platinum right now.

Quick ? How do I know if I have to much turnover going on? My skimmer stared to kick in and start a froth , but I think my drain from the overflow into the filter sock is keeping the skimmer from getting the crud.

Reason I am asking this is new to me and I have ran a canister with a hob skimmer for the past year.. Lol
Note the return pun is a tunze 1073.040 at 700gph and by the time of head height and turn back on the valve. It runs really even with the drain and is stable with no fluctuation in the overflow box. Just a steady drain flow....

The frothing is just from the break in period, it'll build up a slime coating inside that will keep the frothing down, at least this is my experience. The filter sock should catch large particles, your skimmer will pull out the protein and other smaller crud that makes it throught the filter sock. You don't want you turn over to be to high as this won't give your skimmer time to pull out all the nasties, although i'm not sure how to tell how much is too much. I wish Dave (CEE) was available more, he's extremely knowledgable especially with dry goods...and coral...and fish...he's a gold mine of knowledge

Personally I wouldn't use sand or mud in the fuge. I've got some chaeto and some live rock rubble in mine. With low water flow detritus can build up in the mud and sand, but you don't want strong flow in your refugium either.

Ideal is 3x - 5x turnover of your tank going through your sump. This gives plenty of time for the skimmer to work on the organic waste in your water. The filter sock is a great thing if you are religious about changing it out every week. It catches all the large particles, so the skimmer doesn't have to try to get those out too. Your skimmer can focus stirctly of the liquid organic waste.

Yeah I got 2 socks. One to clean while the other is in for the week.

Ok I will get some small live rock pieces and put in the fuge area then , along with the cheto.

So I guess , my turn over is fine. It's not like a water fall flow ing onto the fuge area. It's kinda more like a spill over the top.
