Thanks for the ID, to get it to recover i kept it lower down in the tank away from other corals, and i target feed it reef roids once a week to help it get some food. Thats really all it did, it did seem to start dying off, but seems to be recovering again

@Angel_Anthias lover,
Very easy to tell Alveopora from Goniopora. They are very much the same except the tentacle count on each polyp. Alveopora have 12 tentacles per polyp while Goniopora have 24 tentacles each polyp.

I wish I had pics. Back in 2003 when I had my 75g I bought an unhappy red goni from Petco; this was back in the day when everyone was told not to buy any goni as they died a slow death in a tank. I knew the manager, who was ticked that corporate kept shipping him goni's when he didn't want them. He was a good guy who moved on shortly afterwards.

Anyway... he sold it to me at a deep discount. It was about half again as a big as a golfball. I must have been doing something right, because before all my tanks crashed 4 years* later it had grown to about 6" and 4" wide. Wasn't domed, but it seemed happy.

*I lived about 3 blocks from a railway. They sprayed for weeds and fungus, and 2 days later all 3 of tanks wiped. All on their own filtration, and all had been doing well.
