Found these beauties on the sale rack at a big box store today (that I didn’t even know carried coral) so you know I had to scoop them up! But now I don’t know for sure what they are. The kids working at the store knew nothing about corals, so I didn’t bother bringing it up.
One pic is under blues with no filter and one is with a orange filter. They were a little annoyed because I just dipped them about 20 minutes before I took the pics.

bonus: anyone know what the other frag is? I got it as a freebie with my @AquaSD order yesterday.

Scarface (along with sopranos, spellbinders and night fury) are all specific strains of gold mauls that have been in the hobby. OG lineages are few and far between but the names - specifically Scarface and sopranos - are often still used.

They’re certainly gold mauls. Beyond that, given them some time to settle in and get happy. It’ll be interesting to see how their pattern develops.

More polyps open today… they’re so bright. Some of the smaller polyps haven’t fully developed the same pattern as the larger ones.
I know you’re local - I ran out to Aquarium Adventure in Hoffman Estates to pick up a pump and came across their coral section - not super impressive but definitely had some gems. $38 for these guys!

Yeah, guessing you’re familiar with beyond the reef and Exotic aquatics. I’m western burbs so we have a number of good shops down this way.
Yeah, I love those guys! It was actually Beyond the Reef that I originally went to looking for the pump but they were out of stock. I had never gone there because I thought it was just Petland and I’m not a huge fan of that store.
I’m closer to the city, so I go to Tank it Easy a lot but since they changed hours, I’ve had to branch out.
