Goby recommendations

I'm looking for some recommendations for a sand sifting goby that can handle sand grain sizes up to around 2mm. I'm using Tropic Eden Mesoflakes & Miniflakes sand.

I have a relatively new tank (3-4 months post cycle) that I've worked on quite a bit lately to clear alot of the early tank uglies...cyano and now some hair algae starting to show its ugly self. But my sand bed has to be stirred every couple of days to keep it clean looking. Thinking maybe a goby would be in order about now... well in 45 days after quarantine! Pairing with a shrimp seems like something I might like to do down the road... but not a requirement, if it limits the right goby/size for my sand size. Any ideas... there are so many different gobies!

I and a huge dragon goby in mine when I had figi pink sand and he did great was always clean. When I went to Hawaiian black sand he didn't do as well with the larger grains.

The Diamond Goby has always been and always will be my go to sand sifting goby. Always working hard keeping the sand clean and never had a problem with grain size being an issue. Its also nice that they accept flake and pellet food so that they dont starve when the sand bed is drained

I wouldn't put a goby or any more fish in until your tank is running stable without nutrient problems. If you cannot keep your water quality stable now, another fish is going to make it worse not better.

Before putting a sandsifting goby in make sure your rock scaping isn't on the sand but rather settled onto the glass at the bottom of the tank. If any sand is stabilizing the rock work, those suckers can easily knock it over.

I have a Rainsford Goby and all he does all day is sift the sand and doesn't make a mess. He stays low to the sand when he's sifting so it doesn't blow around and I have the very fine sugar type sand too. I added the Rainsford in the Fall to help out the two Conch's I have and now my sand has never looked better.
