FYI - availablity of antibiotics in Europe.

So everyone - in Europe - you should be able to get any medication you want - with a prescription for that medication from a veterinarian. It might be more expensive - or they might take pity on you - and give you some tablets. There is no such thing as 'this medication is not available here' - with the exception of copper. If I was an aquarist in Europe - I would call a veterinarian - explain the situation - and say - I want to have medication in stock - in case of a problem - but before I use it - I will call for your approval. This also goes for praziquantel, etc. I would suggest - make a friend of a veterinarian

When I used to have pet rats, I had to go to a specialist vet for "exotic" animals. I'm not sure if my local vet would want to go anywhere near treating a fish or coral.

They're a good vet, but I think they don't like treating animals they have limited experienced with.

This is just my experience with a very limited number of places in England. I have no idea if it's different anywhere else.

My guess is that if you had a recommendation from an international reef site suggesting a certain prescription - there would not be an issue.

That is very true. Although I'm not sure if they would give it prophylactically. I might give them a call tomorrow and see... They get enough money for my cat, they might as well get some for my fish as well.

Yeah - I agree - here is the problem - Our country does not have these laws. Europe does. Not judging one or the other. I was just saying - follow the laws in your country - there is no simple solution. Frankly - (heretic alert) - I think the USA should follow the same recommendations - with regards to chemicals.
