I am planning my future upgrade and consolidation of my tanks. I currently have a waterbox 50.3, an evo 13.5 and a 10g frag tank. I want to move away from AIO tanks and go to a sumo system. My goal is to consolidate my 13.5 and 50.3 together, while tying my frag tank into the sump so it shares the same water.

Display tank options:
Aqueon 75: $108 from petco
Search used for a 90-120g tank that is already drilled.

Sump options:
Aqueon 60 breeder: $80 from petco
Aqueon 40 breeder: $60 from petco
Is the 40 big enough or will I wish I had gone bigger in the future?

Frag tank:
It’s currently a 10g, but I might upgrade this to a 20 long when I tie everything together.

My plan is to put my frag tank and sump in the same room, then put my display tank on the other side of the wall in my basement. I’ll then run all the piping through the wall. I’ll also be able to consolidate the whole system on one backup battery bank. I sketched this out below to help illustrate the idea.

Current fish I own after consolidating:
  • oscellaris clown pair
  • Orchid dottyback
  • Lubbocks multicolor wrasse
  • Midas blenny
  • YWG
  • Gloden head sleeper goby
  • Elongate dottyback (they’re currently in separate tanks, not sure if they’ll have issues if the DT is big enough).
Frag tank:
  • pink streaked wrasse
  • Yellow clown goby
  • Tails spot blenny (currently in my Evo)
Mainly looking for feedback on how I should go for DT and sump combo. I’m not in a hurry, so I intend to do this slowly. I’ll build my stands as well, so that’s not a concern.

Combinations:
75 DT, 40B sump, 10 frag
90 DT, 40B or 60B sump, 20L frag
Wildcard/other options from y’all?

To throw a wrench in things I would go 120g and 40b sump. 120 have same width as 75 and 90 with even more depth.

I have a 90g and wish I went 120.
