fungia plate coral lifting off skeleton!

Green plate coral has been detaching from its skeleton over the last 1-2 weeks. All water parameters have been normal, was hoping it would go back to normal but it only looks like it’s getting worse and his mouth is now open all the time. all other corals in the tank looks to be doing great. any ideas as to why? I’ve read some other forums about flow potentially being too high so i’ve pointed the return further away from him… anything else to do to help?

You could try moving it up off the substrate a bit. Either on a flat rock or rock ledge.

I'd double check alkalinity and probably add some buffer anyway until I see a slight raise in it. I'd also do water changes and siphon the cyano off the sand.

i thought they liked to be on the sand surface than not?

added a little extra in, now sitting at 10.9, did water change as well. although i don’t think what i have is cyano, it’s just the lighting making it seem that way

My first thought was too much flow on that part, then I saw the cyano. More random flow and post parameters.

10.9dKH is probably pushing the upper limits (unless you normally run your tank this high).
