My frogspawn didn't respond well to a dip in ca/mg/alk (although my zoas are doing better, go figure) and now has brown jelly disease. It's spreading quickly, so I'm on my way to Lowes for some Bayer insecticide. Does Bayer actually cure/treat brown jelly specifically? Or is iodine the only thing known to help? I don't have access to Lugols until tomorrow night! I really don't think he will make it that long :(

Bayer will not do anything for BJD, iodine has been known to help but is not a guarantee cure.

Ok, thanks! I know the lfs I work at has used Furan 2 before when we ran out of Lugols. How would you go about dipping the frag? I don't have the ability to QT it, but I do have a breeder box if that would be best to keep it in a corner far away from everyone else. Can I use a mix of the antibiotics, or a two step dip to really try and knock this out? Like a Erythromycin dip and then a Furan, Kana. or Tetra. Dip? Or are those ineffective? I know I will have to do this for 3-4 days to really be effective. Also, I have FW dipped all my zoas before, but am I correct that this would kill the Frogspawn?

I know I can't get it in my tank, he is getting dipped in a cup/bucket. How should I go about this? Like amount of water/meds/time. My earlier question about a 2 step dip still stands :)

He's currently being dipped in Furan 2. I *frantically* did some more research and furan 2 was brought up as being successful. I'll probably do an erythromycin dip after or do that one tomorrow.

Found some great info on old posts. Looks like antibiotics and iodine aren't cures/treatments that work. What does seem to work, though, is peroxide. My frag will be finishing his antibiotic dip (for good measure), then a 10 minute rinse in tank water and then a 1:3 ratio dip with 3% peroxide. I'll let you guys know how it goes!
