Hi everyone. I'm setting up a new reef with Marco Rocks and CaribSea Ocean Direct Live Reef Sand. Would adding Fritz TurboStart be ok to add as well? Would this just be overkill?

Good plan. A very diverse blend of biologicals is great for start up. I've used SeaChem Stability to do the same thing, it just works a bit slower than Turbo, but have had excellent long term results dosing with it. And I believe it to be a stronger biological mix. Good luck on your new setup. ;)

I do not think it would be overkill. I used Caribsea, Liferock, and Fritz Turbostart and added clownfish a few days later. Monitored for ammonia everyday and never saw a significant spike but started getting nitrates after about a week.

I just changed tanks and am selling my live reef sand. It's composed of crushed coral and shell. It's actual collected natural reef sand and not the bagged stuff. Let me know if you're interested. It will likely have pods and mysis in it and need to be shipped at least 2nd day Fedex. Selling just my sand. It's enough for a 40 g breeder.
