Is there any freshwater forums out there anymore that have decent traffic like reef2reef?

With the The crack down on facebook, and also the fact that everyone and there 3rd cousin creates a Fb page and Now band, its getting to the point its hard to find fish or even talk to fellow hobbyist like you can here.

I like to make post and be able to go back and read them or search for things.

When I got back into the fish hobby there were a few good ones but now there gone, I wish i was savy enough to create one but that also takes a ton of up front money to have a site as good as this one

Monsterfishkeepers is the only active one I know about but ironically 99.9% of mfk doesn't keep monsters anymore so now it's like just a regular aquacentral deal. It's not close to this place knowledge or traffic wise. Be warned its full of self righteous tank **** types that regurgitate advice from Google/ YouTube instead of having actual experience. Most of the old knowledgeable true keepers have all moved to mfk, monsterfishfreaks, etc on fb.

We should make a dedicated section on R2R for planted, fw groups. Pico planted systems of course will mosey in place it’s good for R2R to be the central hub of aquatic science.

I can understand if the intended scope is saltwater for the site, that world alone is gigantic. If that’s the case it seems a single link area for freshwater aquariums might not take over too badly, it sure would get use. Many are duel instrumentalists fresh/salt/planted no need to be taking science totally outbound to feature the other works we do

I think one link for freshwater might not change scope of the overall site too much, and it’s rather unique.

Offhand I’m trying to think which other prominent reef boards have fw link, it might be a neat blend somehow to have that on RtR

Fish disease science can be worked in both places fw and sw by Humblefish there could be massive reserves of readers coming if we expand

ok one link won’t work do a fw subforum, maybe five divisions and a couple mods lol now you have an aquarium site not so much reef site hmm not sure if that’s the intended direction.

I still think it’s unideal to have to click outbound to read about pro planted technique. Reefers right here have pro planted setups to the left of reef pic...we are missing an untapped reserve for eyeball$ and science advancement I’m thinking.

Personally I like that it's all salt. A fw subforum would be a downgrade imo. I like that its very specialized and not cluttered with misc subforum type topics.

They get messy and hard to manage via sheer volume agreed. Fw is so avail to everyone it changes the overall degree of management and works included that does make sense/the sheer volume might be tricky to work with and keep the level of science / application currently occurring. Still wish we could see the good planted ones though they’re so tricky and like reefing

I guess a lot of questions that pop up can be answered here but I dont know a lot of s/w guys who breed fish or have fish rooms where there is 30+ tanks

Just nice to be able to chat with people outside of facebook as most groups are just looking for likes and member count

hey check out this little gadget for freshwater planted micro. its a panflute co2 diffuser heh lol = drilled out api tubes but I dont see this method done anywhere. I believe this to be an original brainstorm of 2015 ish.

concept: want pressurized paintball co2 on a half gallon planted pico. how to dispense slow, not kill, not acidify.
this works so well

twice a day for 1 minute off a timer, the solenoid kicks on co2 slowly and it dribbles up/displaces water in the tubes. I calculated six tubes to get me the co2 i wanted for pearling and max growth, and the step up array always keeps the bubbling in line

6 tubes takes 6 hours to dissipate, and water fills back in. thank you api tubes

so the co2 runs one minute, twice a day, it will last about 2 years lol on a small paintball gun bottle

the surface area opening of the tubes sets an exacting co2 delivery rate, then x tubes to cover a 10 hour light cycle.

You are so right, man. Frankly speaking, your post made me think about that fact, and you know, I'll agree, that good forums, where you could find answer for your question, like https://arcreef.com/bristle-worms/bristle-worms-fireworms/, became less, then sooner it was. I feel, that I have become old one, because youth don't understand my slang: they don't know what is forums, tapes, ICQ.

Not gonna lie I was just looking for a freshwater forum similar to reef2reef non seem to be as up-to-date as reef2reef or even have an app that makes using the forum easy to navigate and follow your post and replys in a timely manner. Altho traffic would be increased would that really be bad adding a new section for FW aquariums doesn't sound like it wouldn't be that hard and most salt water owners start at freshwater and work there way up as I have done and still learning alot there as well. I think that reef 2 reef would benefit from the flow of Fw owners and may interest them in Sw aquariums and thus making reef 2 reef grow and potential make revenue for advertisers and reef 2 reef I think we should revisit this topic from 2019.

This is my go to freshwater forum.
The site is impressive but it lacks the easy to use mobile app and instant replys like R2R. No offense I think R2R could do just as good if not better in a fresh water forums.
