Freshwater Ferts for Macros

Hi All,

In the process of setting up my Macro tank and wondering if I can use some of my freshwater ferts (Seachem Flourish & Flourish Excel) for my Algae?

Of course you can use it. Compare ingredients of Seachem Flourite to ChaetoGrow. ChaetoGrow has zero nitrogen & zero phosphates. As a generalization, macro uses 30 fold more nitrogen than phosphate.

I have used Flourish in my reef to give my macro algae a boost. I also dose iron.

Flourish excel may be counter productive if you are trying to use macroalgae to maintain or lower nitrogen waste and phosphate.

Yep I use Tropica Specialised in my macroalgae tank. I wouldn't risk using Excel though. I can't see any benefit of using it anyway.
