Hey guys got my first frag yesterday and wondering what's the proper way to transfer it to my live rock. I'm assuming you don't just snap it off the plug

What kind of coral is it? Being that some corals will encrust it might be best to just glue the entire plug to the rock.

Reef safe epoxy and superglue gel work the best. I usually trim the stem off the plug and apply epoxy or super glue gel and then hold to rock for a few seconds. Just make sure you use the gel and not the regular liquid super glue! Loctite brand seems to work great

There's no need to hurry at this point, being your first. There are some pros and cons to the options stated.

Loose unglued frags can be a pain, as they always seem to get knocked off by crabs & snails. This sucks when they fall into other corals and one of the two gets damaged by the other. In time, it's a pain because once dislodged, if out of sight, you may forget them altogether and they die in the shade.

It is nice to try various places before "permanently" fixing them; to see how they respond to different light and flow levels.

It's good to find pictures of full grown colonies and make sure you know what they might look like in time, i.e.. tabling, tight compact branches, stinging sweepers, etc etc..

Personally, I use both the two-part putty type epoxy and gel.

What did you get? Pics man, or it's not real. LOL

I usually start frags in the sand and gradually move them up and around until they look as happy as can be. When they find their sweat spot I turn off the circulation and use Gorilla super glue gel. Be careful if you have acrylic.
