Hi all.

I was originally thinking of going with the Redsea 425 (1200 x600 x550) 12T with 2 side mounted MP40s and 2 rear mounted Maxspect 2k gyros for my acro dominated tank, but changed my mind to the Redsea S 550 (1200 x680 x650) 19T for the additional water volume.

It seems the manufacturer only recommends up to 12T for the Maxspect 2k and my LFS is saying anything stronger would be too much flow for my sand and is now recommending 2 MP40s on each side.

Would this be the best solution?

Many thanks.

I always recommend over-kill and then you can dial back the flow. You can never make it stronger but you can make it weaker....and....you'll have more capable equipment for larger tanks in the future. :) I do think two MP40 pumps would be enough!

2 Sea Sweeps, one on each end, running 2 6105's would be another option. You have all the power you need as you can dial it up when the tank matures.
I run 2 6255' in my 59×30×21.
Great random flow with only 2 cords in the tank running through the sweeps.
