I have closed loop already running a ecotech return pump and some pendutctorsHave you thought about having a closed loop? You don't have to drill for one but it would be good to have a sand bed to hide the pipes on the bottom.
does that mean the overflow box could be removed? If it's your return then it's an open loop. A close loop doesn't suffer from head loss just friction loss. And you can put outlets anywhere without fear of it siphoning out of the tank if the power goes out.
Here is a good example:

I wanted to run a closed-loop system on my undrilled 29 gallon aquarium. My goal was to use the SCWD WAVEMAKER, and be able to replace two MaxiJet 1200 powerheads. This is how it was plumbed:www.melevsreef.com
