Pretty pair but I think they are kinda high. I just paid $189 for my pair from Justrarefish dot com. I think he is out right now but can get more.

Not really intentional TBO guys, I have just recently became in contact w/ lots of cool stuff and just working there doesn't really help me any if they sell.(which all were by the time of the post?)

and Hopkins (we also priced matched all those cool fish in a price safari, along w/ wanatabies, and bellus) check the prices now :D on the new site.

They'll be sponsors here soon for all to check out. :p SO no worries. ;)

The new prices are very good. I plan to buy most of my fish from that local online store.

Hey!!! I freaked for a moment....those are my photos!!!!! I am new here, and was just surfing around...then I realized BigZoaFatty, or Brent, or Hollywood, or XAWP or whatever the heck his name is???? He is my employee.

We're sponsors...Just getting things set-up...It's all good. I use WOliver, everywhere...I am old and would forget who I am otherwise.

Glad to be here.

Wow, welcome Wayne!

Pricing is pretty normal for that store. I don't shop there anymore because of the prices. The employees and owner are great, but they don't have a very good feel for the market. Most of there prices are usually 40-50% higher than my preferred LFS.

Well, I could have surfed all night without reading this.....let me share a few facts about the LFS that has no feel for the market.

They are sponsors of R2R.

They were one of the first boutique stores in the country to install commercial filtration systems...how many boutique shops run RK2?
Filtration0001.jpg

Their facility is extremely clean with the healthiest, highest quality specimens that come with a 14-day warranty. I believe if you have a feel for the market, and if the retailer believes the specimens they offer are of high quality, then guarantee them.

This humble LFS has gone to market as one of the largest livestock E-retailers in the country, and with well over 2,000 SKUs of livestock, offers as much as any shipping from California. As actual LFS operators, they're unique as compared to the largest E-retailers, where all others of comparable depth of product are without storefronts.

With respect to price, I would suggest the members of R2R go to the website of the LFS in question and check price on specimens....and if the R2R member lives East of the Mississippi, they may be very happy with the shipping rates from Michigan....with less stress than shipping from California.

I also understand this company, with no feel for the market, will be offering R2R members and additional 15% off of the price presented on the site...for an introductory period.

Thank you Hopkins,

Wayne

Don't get all out of sorts over a stupid post. I do feel that your in store prices are a bit higher than most, but it is understandable. You can't operate with first class equipment on undergravel filter store livestock prices. The not understanding the market comment was a bit strong, but that has been changing lately. The e-store is great, it allows people to get quality livestock at prices they can afford.

You can't operate with first class equipment on undergravel filter store livestock prices. The not understanding the market comment was a bit strong, but that has been changing lately. The e-store is great, it allows people to get quality livestock at prices they can afford.

You’ll find the in-store prices have come down in conjunction with opening the E-Retail site, but just like any LFS, even they can’t compete with their own on-line pricing. The new in-store prices will generally run 20% higher than on-line, but are still better than most other retail stores, especially when you consider the 14-DAY WARRANTY.

Please note the on-line price will generally run at or below any of the large West coast E-retailers...and if the R2R member lives East of the Mississippi, the shipping rates are generally much better.....and if you live close enough to their store, you can pick-up with no freight....what E-retailer with comparable livestock offerings can provide that?

Their in-store price difference is because stocking a retail store involves additional shipping, handling, acclimation, medication, feeding and higher overhead expense than shipping from offsite. They feel the additional cost of offering premium specimens in the store provides customers with immediate satisfaction, while affording them the opportunity to personally select their specimens.

So their marine specimens run no more than 20% higher than what is on-line, and their Rare & Unusual and Discus are the same price as on-line......then, during the introductory offer, you could take another 15% off that.

It is worth repeating...how many LFS do you shop that offer a 14-Day Warranty on the money you spend?, and how many of the largest E-retailers with the volume of specimens they have to offer run an LFS? Most of the LFS run E-retail only offer a few hundred SKUs at best.....so I feel this company we're discussing has a good feel for the market and is actually pretty cutting-edge for a humble LFS working hard to take-on the big E-retailers on the West Coast.

It is a David vs Goliath story.:horse:

Sounds like a really nice set-up - and sounds like a lot of really nice healthy fish - Only owners that truely care about the quality of their livestock and reputation spend that kida money to run that nice of equipment. I don't see it posted so what is the store name? If you are sponsors here now you should be able to post it - I am going to be in the market for some new fish and would like to support the sites sponsors.

thanks

You should have your choice of specimens later today. I don't think it is apporpriate to broadcast the company outside of our forum, and that should be available later today. We were on hold waiting for the new banner....we've evolved as a company, and I just felt a new banner would be like a fresh coat of paint. It is simple, but I like it. Hope you do as well.

Thanks,

Wayne

Thanks Junior....folks are not going to get the sandwich joke at all here...and I don't think it can be duplicated. That was a custom joke.

All I know is I'd rather have a bucket of salt versus a box.... Because people tried sitting on boxes when they came to look at my tank...and it just didn't work.....Buckets on the other hand, be it they are empty, full of water, salt, sand, or other misc items are great, even without a lid....save when it's full of water without a lid...your bum slides into it..and you start to wonder why things are getting cold. Would love to see a behind the scenes picture tour of the store Wayne, I was given the opportunity to see some of that stuff in person and it's pretty impressive.
