Really gutted, thought my new system was cycled enough to put a clownfish in. Anyway I put one of my two percula clownfish in, died 10 minutes later. Sad to know even being in the hobby I could make a mistake like that. If I go to put another percula clownfish in will they bond quickly?

You can cycle a brand new tank with a clownfish, so I don’t think it’s a cycle issue!

Did you test for ammonia? If you were doing a fishless cycle, the ammonia could have still been high.

Did you acclimate the fish to the temperature? Warmer water will kill a fish quickly.

Was this filled with tap water? Did you use a de-chlorinator? Since you have a tank, I’m guessing this isn’t the problem.

The bonding is hit or miss. The best chance is putting a much smaller one in with the one you have. The one you have now will become female, if it isn’t already.

Thanks for the reply, yes I run RODI water I’ve been in the hobby for a while. The fish came straight from my old tank. I think It was definitely down to ammonia.
