Had a powder blue tang. Eye was cloudy and he has minor scuffles with other tangs every once in a while in main tank, but not concerning aggression. Thought he got injured so put him in qt tank. Almost overnight Figi puffer and two small clowns also in qt tank died along with tang.
Noticed foxface up at surface in main tank which was unusual. Yanked him and got him in qt. was rubbing on rocks and started head shaking. Did a freshwater dip and small blackspots in water. It provided relief. Started Frits Coppersafe. It was all I had on hand and other fish died so quickly it was worth a shot. Fox doing well now after a week. He is eating and no head shaking.
Fish in main tank all showing no symptomatic behavior.
Still trying to nail down actual reason of fish loss. Everything happened so fast. I only have a Pic of powder blue tang before death. He had some little whit spots around eye.
Just did ICP test and all looked great outside of a couple of trace minerals.
Any input appreciated.

Sorry about your loss.
Was anything added new to the DT in the past few weeks? Was there any loss of appetite with the fish in the QT after you added the blue tang? Did the Puffer or the clowns seem in distress after adding the tang? Did you do anything to the QT after you added the tang, ie; water change, meds or additives?

Rapid fish death indicates disease ot major issue in tank environment water chemistry such as lack of filtration leading to 02 issues overnight. If copper helped your last fish then you probably had a velvet outbreak in the tank.

No noticible stress with addition of powder to qt in other fish. Powder was very docile with eye issues. All fish had been in DT for over 6 months. Had no medications in qt tank when powder was added.

After a lot of reading velvet was what I was leaning towards but still uncertain. Any input on how long to keep foxface in qt with copper treatment?

Sorry for your loss, powered blues are definitely early indicators of something astray with your water if not certain corals. Is there any irregularity to your maintenance schedule? If something has changed look into what potentially could have affected your fish.

I believe the protocol is 30 days at 2.5 but don't quote me. Your primary tank needs to fallow 45 days minimum.

Have you added anything to your Display recently? Corals, CUC, etc?
I would encourage you to watch the BRS series with Elliot (Marine Collectors) about the QT process. Even if you watched it before it would be good to refresh.

Will review all records tonight but nothing coming to mind currently. Do weekly water changes and check parameters daily. I have added a torch and a gonipora with in the las couple of months. I do feed fresh clams regularly .

I will review again. Thanks. I have added a torch and a gonipora dipped with coral rx. I feed fresh saltwater clams regularly.
