So a bit of backstory, when i was younger, i used to have a 150 gallon saltwater reef, which i unfortunately shut down and sold due to finanical instabilities.
Now, i want to get back into the hobby, but this time with a FOWLR to begin with. I kept a lot of expert only fishes when I had that fish, but i dont wanna go that deep just yet (maybe later)
I think i want to grab a 6x14x18 tank, I know it is rather unusual but its really cheap at my lfs. I wanna start with easier, hardier fish.
No corals yet, or ever in this tank.
Equipment
Canister filter (maybe 2 down the line)
Random tube lights
heater
Lots of rock and sand
hob protein skimmer

Stocking (in order of adding)
Pair of clowns
midas blenny
naokos wrasse (love that fish)
a basslet or dottyback of some kind
Iridescent wrasse
a dragonet (eating shrimp fs)
Regal Angelfish and/or kole tang
Copperband butterfly or Pyramid butterfly

Inverts
conches snails and maybe some shrimp. Nothing crazy, maybe an urchin.

Now some notes on the more finnicky fish, My lfs sells eating copperbands and regal angelfishes, i have checked in on them about it. I dont know if i should add a kole tang and a regal or just one or the other, so asking for advice. I'll probably get the more finnicky fish a year or so later so the tank would be mature, stable and ill have some experience.

any advice absolutely welcome

Would do a sump with a ghost style overflow with bean animal or herbie plumbing.

Welcome back

I think your plan to start with hardier fish is a good idea! Start easy and slow, go from there.
