Algae has just about taken over, lol! But Orion doesn’t mind zero nitrates and I just love the dragons breath.

Beautiful algae, I'm currently trying to grow some halymnia gracilaria but it hasn't really grown a lot since I got it. I split 50/50 to the dt and sump, with the sump one being a bit bigger...
That red grape caulerpa(?) looks stunning!

Thanks, the red grape algae is Botryocladia. The red gracillaria I plucked right out of the Atlantic Ocean. It initially did poorly then went crazy and multiplied.

If he’s really a male, I’d love to bring my female over some time to see how they react to each other through a kritter keeper!

what store did you get him from? Mine came from aqua life, they’re the most reasonable on pricing and I think I traded in stuff for credit towards her

He is definitely a male, but I am no longer in Cali unfortunately. Moved to Florida. I got mine locally here. He was like 2.5” when I bought him. I love smaller Peacocks because they are more hardy and have the potential to live at least several years in the home aquarium. He cost $55 which was a great deal.

Were they always that expensive there? Cause I think my first one in 2015 was around $30
I’m not sure to be honest. When I bought mine I could only fine one in the whole country available to purchase online. Most LFS in the U.K. don’t seem to sell livestock online for delivery so it’s possible if I’d have called around I might have found one cheaper. I’d never looked at the prices before I eventually made the decision to get into the hobby.

Everything in the U.K. is more expensive though. The top end iPhone is $1599, in the U.K. it’s £1749 ($2033).

The economy is pretty bad all over the world right now. I got a Peacock in Germany years ago for like $50. It’s just not the same anymore. The aquarium hobby is becoming more and more expensive. It is a luxury though.

Just back from overseas! My macroalgae dominant tank is still going strong! It was moved to my sister-in-law’s house while I was away and when I bring everything back, I will upgrade to a 40 gallon breeder tank for my Peacock mantis, Orion.

He is in good condition and now almost 5 inches long. Still grumpy as ever!

Since the macro/skimmerless approach has worked so well, I will continue that in the 40B. I will also be adding more easy stony corals like monti digitata. I will need a new pump and will add my second AI Prime light as well.

Hope everyone is doing well!
