Hey guys,

Is there any disposable (and more affordable) replacement to a filter sock? I grow tired of cleaning them with bleach and would appreciate a more disposable (or longer lasting) alternative. Thoughts?

Polyfill in bulk and a media cup replacing your sock in the sock holder.

Remove and discard, replace with new.

Lots of polyfill options on amazon.

So I plan on getting this filter cup since it seems to fit my specific Eshopps DeskMate: https://krakenreef.com/products/kraken-reef-feeder-filter-cup-v2?variant=39683474784391

How does this polyfill work? Do I just cut it and line the entire interior of the cup? Do you have any bulk options you'd suggest on Amazon?

Its just polyester floss bunched up like for a pillow or stuffed animal.

You fill the cup to your liking. I would experiment a bit for volume.

This stuff should work fine and is cheap.

My concern is that little pieces would detach or come off. Do you have any suggestions or thoughts about that?

While I'm happy washing my filter socks, some have gone to these disposable "diapers".

You could use filter floss such as this one, in a single layer.
I would look for white colors as I think the other colors perform a purpose like removing specific things from the water. White floss would work from a hobby store and is dirt cheap. Poly fill I think

For some companies they use colors to indicate as you mentioned. This specific brand does not, the only difference is the colored section is more dense.
